Altratech has developed a novel multi analyte molecular detection platform - a first-of-its-kind multianalyte diagnostic capable of simultaneously detecting and quantifying DNA, RNA, antibodies, and antigens. By combining concurrent serology and nucleic acid detection within a single system, the platform represents a significant advance in point-of-care molecular diagnostics.

The Company’s digital molecular diagnostic device is being developed as a fully automated, portable, stand-alone instrument for both point-of-care and point-of-need applications. Designed for ease of use, the system will not require medically trained personnel to operate, offering substantial advantages over existing molecular diagnostic platforms, which are often more complex, less portable, and dependent on specialist users.

Based in Ireland, Altratech brings together a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers with expertise spanning microfluidics, semiconductor chip design, biology, physics, and chemistry. The Company’s intellectual property portfolio comprises more than 40 granted patents, with a further 12 patent applications filed. In addition, Altratech jointly holds a patent with the U.S. National Institutes of Health, with whom it has collaborated on PNA probe design and synthesis.

Altratech is venture backed and has received grant support from the European Innovation Council, the Gates Foundation, and BARDA. Clinical studies are being conducted in collaboration with Hospital Universitario San Cecilio.
