Altratech’s innovation is to enable the delivery of digital, point-of-care, multi-analyte, molecular viral load tests capable of detecting any molecular virus. In March 2026, the Company announced that it received a grant from the Gates Foundation to support this development. Altratech have previously demonstrated detection of HIV with digital read out from whole blood finger prick technical samples at 1,000 copies/mL. At the Tri Con Conference, San Francisco 4-5 May 2026 Dr Tara Dalton, CEO of Altratech, will be presenting the data from a March 2026 pre-clinical study of HIV patient samples, demonstrating significant advances in the products capability. This pre-clinical study was undertaken in partnership with San Cecilio University Hospital Spain.

Altratech’s innovation is protected by over 40 granted patents. The company is currently collaborating with The Cambridge Design Partnership (UK) to encapsulate this technology in a ‘sample to result’ product. This product comprises a low-cost disposable cartridge with a solid-state portable, stand-alone instrument encompassing a proprietary CMOS chip.  The simplicity of the instrument, disposable cartridge, and reagent use, ensures compliance with the WHO REASSURED criteria.
